Dent May - Meet Me In The Garden
OK so this one is fairly smiths sounding if they grew up with the Beach Boys! But....
Le Loup - Planets Like Vultures
A 7 piece from Washington. It starts off slow but pays off in the end

From the new album just released on Ellen Allien's label B-Pitch Control...it will also be their last album, due to the death of Charlie Cooper. Shame.

Kasabian - Vlad the Impaler
As a fan of obscure horror movies, Dario Argento, anything from the 70s, as well as The Mighty Boosh and IT-Crowd, this video has it all rolled into one for me. And the song is good too.

Thieves Like Us - Headlong Into Night
They used to live in Berlin, now its Paris. I quite like their concept. All their videos are re-edited excerpts from geman and french 70s/80s movies.

Art and Music
Recently, when I was listening to Pig Radio I came across this song:
Sam Taylor-Wood - I'm in love with a German Filmstar. Until then I had known Sam Taylor-Wood only as an artist, but soon found out that she had been collaborating with the Pet Shop Boys before. This being the latest effort.
In the video Sam Taylor-Wood strikes a Marlene Dietrich pose and amazingly sits still for about 4 minutes.
It made me think that the newest topic for Track of the Day could be: artist as musicians and musicians as artists. Which can you think of?
My absolute favourite is Walking On Thin Ice by Yoko Ono. Love it.
In 2006 I came across PTR - PlanningToRock and was absolutely thrilled by her music, her live shows and the visuals she used in them. PTR is Janine Rostron and she came to Berlin via Bolton, England. Hence Bolton Wanderer:

Q Lazarus - Goodbye Horses
Now that we have set this whole blog thingy in motion, I shall give you all one of my favourite tunes form last year. Oh how i tortured party after party with this. For those of you who remember Silence of the Lambs, there is one scene where Buffalo Bill is dancing with his penis between his legs asking a rather strange question and wearing a fairly unusual suit. But sweet mother of god is the song fantastic.
Röyksopp - Happy Up Here (Holy Fuck Remix)
Simone gave us this Holy Fuck remix of Röyksopp - Happy Up Here
NICE!
NICE!
Pnau - Wild Strawberries
Jovan once again proving his uncanny ability to make you wanna dance sent us all this little shaker from Australia:
Danielle Deneuve - Le Parisien
Olwen gave us this classic from 1983. This woman was a Danish schlager singer in the 70s, before making a career comeback in the italo disco genre. Apparently when this track was released by some Danish producers they pretended it was an Italian import and that 'Danielle' was a French singer discovered in a bar in Thailand...
School Of Seven Bells - Half Asleep
So my turn, and I'm currently in love with School of Seven Bells and this track
Francoiz Breut - Les Jeunes Pousses
Alex suggested this one, my right foot nearly tapped itself right off:
Francoiz Breut - Les Jeunes Pousses
Jose Gonzalez - Cello Song

This perfect cover of Nick Drakes Cello Song is on Dark Was the Night and features the combined powers of The Books and Jose Gonzalez. Its Ronits choice and here the link:

Nite Jewel - Kamera

Simone suggested this, sadly I can't find a link to a video but I do have a link to listening to it though:
Its Nite Jewel - Kamera
Andrew Bird - Fiery Crash

Every so often a new track appears on this blog so with out further adue I shall revert to the first track that was sent to me, this little ditty from Andre Bird:
